On waters rushing and life changing

Driving, ever driving
Slowly now, detour ahead.
Water rushing, ever flowing,
never stopping.

Life-giving,
life-changing,
life-taking.

Watching, waiting, anticipating.
This could be it, the time, the one.

Flowers drowning, grass floating
sheep running to high ground.

One more step, and I’m home –
car floating now, flying downstream.

Life changing, sandbags everywhere,
mud and mire coating my life, my home,
my everything.

Floating, driving, watching, waiting –
slowly now, detours ahead.
